A Huron man has announced his candidacy to represent a newly-formed state district that includes several Monroe County communities.
Jack Richert, a lifelong resident of Huron Township and small business owner, is running as a Republican for the 29th District.
Formed after an inaugural independent citizens commission redrew legislative boundaries, the 29th District is comprised of municipalities in Monroe and Wayne counties. It includes portions of Ash, Huron, Frenchtown and Monroe townships; and portions of the cities of Monroe, Taylor, and Romulus.
Education is a key component of Richert’s platform.
“I have long said that the key to great schools is parental involvement,” he said.
